In Odegard, Inc. v. Costikyan Classic Carpets, we represented Odegard, Inc. a leading designer and manufacturer of hand-knotted Tibetan rugs, against Costikyan, a competitor, on claims that Costikyan had produced Tibetan rug designs that infringed the Odegard copyrights. After trial in U.S. District Court Costikyan was found to have infringed our client’s copyrights. The court awarded our client damages, a permanent injunction, and attorneys’ fees, and ordered that all of the infringing rugs be destroyed. (We were happy to facilitate the donation of the rugs to charity as an alternative to their destruction).
